We discussed the Sealing Power today in church today and how it is so crucial to the Plan of Salvation. In Malachi 4:5-6 it reads that "Elijah shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to the fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse."
When Joseph Smith conferred the priesthood on the 12 apostles, he said that it was a great relief to pass the responsibility of the ordinances and sealings of the temple onto their shoulders and that Satan will not be able to tear down the church (like he did in Christ's time which led to the apostasy).
